Welcome to BASC

A registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit and the largest Bengali cultural pillar in Southern California, serving the region for over five decades — a cultural home where India’s rich heritage meets the vibrant heart of California.

Our mission

To nurture, celebrate and promote the heritage, artistic traditions and cultural legacy of Bengal — building a close-knit community, and a bridge between traditional values and our modern, diverse society.

What we do

Year-round cultural, social and educational programmes: our flagship three-day Durga Puja, plus Laxmi Puja, Saraswati Puja, Holi and seasonal picnics — with premier concerts, traditional rituals and community showcases.

What we stand for

  • Cultural preservation — Bengali music, theatre, dance, literature and arts, classical and contemporary.
  • Youth & next-generation leadership — cultural pride, leadership skills and support for youth education.
  • Outreach & philanthropy — local food drives, disaster relief fundraising, and sponsorship of girl-child education initiatives.

◈ Our community

A place where Bengal feels close

With the Bengali Association of Southern California there is no dull moment. From the first beat of the dhaak to the last song of the evening, we make room for everyone — families who have been here for decades and students who arrived last month.

We are a non-profit, and we run two Bengali schools, Pathshala and Pathbhaban, so the language and the stories carry on to the next generation. From cultural evenings to socio-religious occasions, BASC nurtures not only the Bengali community but Indian families from across the globe.

Come as a guest once, and you tend to stay as family.

◈ Beyond our own

Communities we stand beside

A community is measured by who it turns up for. Alongside our own festivals and schools, BASC volunteers give their weekends to causes across Southern California — packing food, raising funds, and showing up where hands are needed.

Our members work with the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, One World One Foundation, Los Angeles Fire Depratment and Others.

  • Volunteering Activities
  • Fundraising and relief drives for causes at home and abroad
  • Open events that welcome every community, not only Bengalis
